You can delete your AfterFive account at any time. The fastest way is inside the app — it removes your account immediately. If you no longer have access to the app, you can request deletion by email and we'll process it within 30 days.
📱 1. Delete in the app (instant)
- Open AfterFive on your phone and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Manage Account.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
Your account is deactivated immediately and full erasure completes within 24 hours.

If you can't access the app, send us an email and we'll delete your account on your behalf:

Include: the phone number and/or email associated with your AfterFive account so we can verify your identity.
We respond within 72 hours and complete deletion within 30 days. You'll receive a confirmation email once it's done.
🗑️ 3. What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, the following are permanently removed from our systems:
- Profile — name, profile photo, bio, gender, age range, city, username, Instagram handle, LinkedIn URL, interests, phone number, email.
- Authentication identifiers — AWS Cognito record, Google / Apple / LinkedIn OAuth links, auth tokens.
- Activity — RSVPs, event attendance, host/venue follows, community memberships, connections, join requests and screening answers.
- User-generated content — profile photos, event-gallery photos, community posts, reviews you wrote.
- Trust & ratings — trust score, badges, ratings you gave and received, host reliability metrics tied to your account.
- Device identifiers — Expo push notification tokens registered to your devices.
- Payment records — UPI ID, transaction history tied to your account (subject to legal retention below).
📦 4. What is retained (and why)
A small amount of data is retained after deletion, only where required:
- Anonymised aggregate analytics — counts and trends that contain no personal identifiers (e.g. "1,200 events in May 2026").
- Transactional and tax records — payment receipts and invoices, retained up to 7 years to meet Indian tax and accounting law (Income Tax Act, GST). Personal identifiers are redacted where possible.
- Safety and abuse records — if your account was involved in a safety report or legal investigation, the minimum necessary records are retained as required by law.
- Backups — encrypted database backups roll off on a 30-day cycle; deleted data is purged from backups within that window.

🎛️ 6. Delete specific data without deleting your account
You don't have to delete your whole account to remove specific data. The following can be done at any time from within the app, and each takes effect immediately:
- Edit or clear profile fields — Profile → Edit Profile (bio, photo, Instagram / LinkedIn handle, interests, gender, age range, city).
- Delete photos you uploaded — open the photo from your profile or an event gallery and tap the delete action.
- Withdraw an RSVP — Event details → Cancel RSVP.
- Leave a community — Community details → Leave.
- Unfollow a host or venue — Profile → Following.
- Turn off location sharing — Settings → Privacy.
- Opt out of notification categories — Settings → Notifications (each type is individually controllable).
- Deactivate your profile (hide without deleting) — Profile → Manage Account → Deactivate. You can reactivate any time.
